The regional capital of Burgundy, Dijon sits 227 meters above sea level, overlooking the Ouche valley which winds its way between the Auxois hills and the vineyards. With its 97 hectares of listed monuments, Dijon is a paradise for art and history-lovers, but also for all those who enjoy good food and fine wine (the town is known for its gingerbread, black currants and honey, among other things). This city is the starting point for the Route des Grands Crus, a wine-tasting route which traces the origins of some of the best vintage bottles.
